CIR Laboratory is an independent company with a team of dynamic specialists having at their disposal several multidisciplinary equipments enabling them to meet industry needs in the field of industrial materials and processes.
Our profile as experts in the field as well as the diversity of our services allow us to offer industries' solutions when process profitability increase is of concern. The relevant documentation resulting from our work on industrial materials characterization and behavior during operation, which we offer herein, is a tangible example of our willingness to make every effort to contribute to such achievement.
Our industrial secrecy commitment is a guarantee of absolute confidentiality of information received and produced within the scope of our mandates. We do not hesitate, when required, to sign confidentiality agreements granting our customers the exclusive rights to intellectual property.
Dr. Claude Allaire, currently acting as principal scientist at the Arvida Research and Development Center of Alcan International Limited, took on a new challenge by joining, as professor-researcher, the Ecole Polytechnique of Montreal's research group on industrial ceramics and refractories, also known since 1994 as CIREP. His main mission was to diversify the group's research activities that were then focused on refractories for the steel industry. This was how the group's research activities on refractoreis for the non-ferrous industry, in particular the aluminum industry, came forth and continued along with the existing activities during the following years. More than one hundred companies throughout the wolrd were able, over the years, to take advantagee of CIREP's expertise since then recognized worldwide.
Dr. Allaire, teaching master, becomes chair holder of the NSERC Chair on Refractories focused on the "high temperature confinement materials for the aluminum industry", known as REFRAL.
Dr. Allaire leaves the academic world and founds the CIR Laboratory with the following objectives:
To deserve a larger pool of industries concerned by industrial ceramics and refractories, including the petrochemistry and the cement manufacturers;
To offer high quality analysis, testing, consulting, R&D and training services;
To guaranty minimal time delivery;
To insure an absolute confidentiality.
To respect its mission, CIR Laboratory diversifies its activities to be able to cater to the increasing specifics needs of industries working in the metallurgy and plastic fields
Following the success of its first phase of diversification, CIR Laboratory undertakes a second phase of diversification of its activities to serve the mining industry and those concerned by the rising environment challenges.
To insure the continuous up-grading of its services, CIR Laboratory adopts a quality policy and obtains its ISO 9001:2000 Certification. This certification covers research, test and analyses, as well as the training in industiral materials science.
CIR Laboratory's mission is to offer efficent and cost effective solutions to problems related to the elaboration and the use of materials.
With a continuous improvement approach, CIR Laboratory proposes solutions based on quality and innovation which enables all industrial players to remain competitive.
Strong of its experience both in the industrial and academic fields, Dr Claude Allaire heads a team of rigorous and dynamic scientists having access to diversified and sophisticated equipments dedicated to the characterization of industrial materials.
To meet the specific customer's requirements, CIR Laboratory designs custom set-ups simulation testing procedures, thus giving them the essential tools to evaluate the emerging technological innovations.
On April 15th, 2008 CIR Laboratory obtained its Certification ISO 9001:2000 in accordance with its quality policy.

Le 26 Avril 2018, Laboratoire CIR obtenait sa certification ISO 9001:2015 et cette fois ci, la portée de la certification couvre, les analyses et essais ainsi que le développement, production et distribution de matériaux réfractaires et de revêtements.
Calibration and benchmarking
Calibration and benchmarking of critical instruments of CIR Laboratory are done on a periodic basis, taking into account the precision and repeatability criteria customary to the applicable normalised procedures.
Certificates of calibration as well as applied benchmarking procedures are available upon request.
